Western North passport application centre opened in Sefwi Wiawso

The Western North Region’s citizens will now have easier access to passport services thanks to the establishment of the Sefwi Wiawso Passport Application Center.
James Gyakye Quayson, the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, officially opened the facility on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.

Addressing the audience, the Deputy Minister stated that the centre will reduce the need for citizens to go to other regions to obtain passport services, describing the move as part of continuous efforts to improve public service delivery.
He described several measures being pursued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to improve passport management efficiency, openness, and security. He also thanked regional officials for their assistance in making the institution operational.

During the commissioning event, the Deputy Minister handed out passports to five applicants who had successfully applied for them at the Sefwi Wiawso centre.
Wilbert Petty Brentum, Western North Regional Minister, characterized the centre’s commissioning as a key milestone for the region, pointing out that it considerably enhances access to essential government services.

He praised the President and the Minister of Foreign Affairs for sanctioning the centre’s formation and asked workers to maintain professionalism, integrity, and transparency in their work.
The ceremony was attended by the region’s District Chief Executives, the Regional Deputy Director of NADMO, security agency chiefs, religious and traditional leaders, and others.
