2026 World Cup Qualification: Black Stars ‘were not good enough’ against Chad – Coach Otto Addo.
Ghana’s Black Stars head coach Otto Addo expressed disappointment with his team’s 1-1 draw against Chad in their 2026 World Cup qualifier, saying they “were not good enough”. Despite taking the lead through Jordan Ayew’s goal in the 17th minute, Ghana failed to hold on for the win, with Celestine Ecua equalizing for Chad in the 88th minute.
Addo attributed the draw to poor execution, stating, “We had a lot of corners, we did nothing out of that. We had a lot of shots, attempts on goal, we had a lot of ball possession, and normally we have to win this game.” He emphasized the need for improvement, particularly in finishing chances, ahead of their crucial match against Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 8.
The draw leaves Ghana top of Group I with 16 points, three ahead of Madagascar and four clear of Mali. However, Addo’s comments suggest that the team needs to step up their performance if they want to secure qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
